Amazon Prime Big Deal Days is coming October 6–7, and the early deals have already started.
But I’m not interested in buying something just because Amazon put a big red discount next to it.
I’m looking for deals on products that can make everyday life a little easier—and, when possible, help us make a simple swap away from some of the plastic and disposable products we use in our kitchens and homes.
So instead of sharing hundreds of random Prime deals, I’m keeping this list intentionally small.
These are the Prime Big Deal Days home and kitchen finds I’d actually consider buying for my own family.

1. Rubbermaid Brilliance Glass Food Storage Containers
THE SWAP: Plastic food-storage containers → glass
This might be my favorite early Prime deal because it fits perfectly with one of the simplest kitchen swaps you can make.
The Rubbermaid Brilliance set uses glass bases for storing leftovers, meal prep and family dinners. I especially like clear glass containers because you can actually see what’s hiding in the refrigerator—which hopefully means fewer forgotten leftovers!
The glass bases are oven-safe up to 450°F, and the containers can also be used in the refrigerator, freezer and microwave according to the manufacturer’s instructions.
If you’ve been slowly replacing older plastic food-storage containers, this is exactly the type of product I’d watch during Prime Big Deal Days.

2. Reusable Silicone Food Storage Bags
THE SWAP: Disposable sandwich bags → reusable silicone bags
This is another easy swap for a busy family.
Reusable silicone bags work for school lunches, after-school snacks, meal prep, freezer foods and those random half-used ingredients that always seem to end up in disposable bags.
Look for food-grade silicone options that are designed to be washed and reused.
I especially like having several sizes—smaller bags for kids’ snacks and larger ones for leftovers and meal prep.

3. Borosilicate Glass Food Storage Containers
THE SWAP: More plastic storage → glass meal-prep containers
More glass food-storage options are appearing in Amazon’s early kitchen deals, including multi-piece borosilicate glass sets.
These are worth comparing with the Rubbermaid set above if you’re looking for several containers without spending a lot.
I wouldn’t buy a set simply because it’s discounted, though. Look for secure lids, useful sizes and containers you’ll realistically use every week.

4. Reusable Swedish Dishcloths
THE SWAP: Paper towels → reusable cleaning cloths
This is such an underrated little swap.
Swedish dishcloths can handle everyday kitchen cleanup while helping reduce how many paper towels your family goes through.
Use them for counters, tables, spills and quick kitchen cleanups, then wash and reuse them.
They’re inexpensive enough that this is also a great place to start if you’re trying to make your home a little less disposable without spending a lot of money.

5. Silicone or Plastic-Free Cooking Utensils
THE SWAP: Worn plastic utensils → longer-lasting alternatives
Amazon’s early Prime deals are already including kitchen utensil sets, so this is another category I’m watching closely.
If your kitchen drawers are filled with old, scratched plastic spatulas and spoons, Prime Big Deal Days may be a good time to replace the pieces that actually need replacing.
Depending on your cookware, look for quality silicone, stainless steel or solid wood utensils rather than buying another inexpensive plastic set.

6. Stainless-Steel Lunch & Snack Containers
THE SWAP: Disposable lunch packaging → reusable containers
If you pack lunches every day, reusable lunch gear can save a surprising amount of disposable packaging.
Stainless-steel bento boxes and small snack containers are especially useful for fruit, crackers, sandwiches, veggies and other school-lunch staples.

7. A Reusable Water Bottle or Tumbler
THE SWAP: Disposable drinks → bring-your-own bottle
Not every simple swap needs to be complicated.
A good reusable water bottle is one of those products everyone in our family can actually use—school, sports, errands, work and travel.
Several drinkware brands are already appearing in early Prime Big Deal Days sales, so I’ll be watching for worthwhile discounts here too.

A Deal Isn’t a Deal If You Don’t Need It
This is probably the most important part of this entire post.
You don’t need to replace everything in your kitchen because something is on sale.
If the plastic containers you own are working for your family, use them.
If you already have a reusable water bottle you love, you don’t need another one.
And if you’ve been meaning to replace something anyway? That’s when a sale like Prime Big Deal Days can actually be useful.
That’s the approach I’m taking with this list: buy fewer things, choose products you’ll actually use, and make one simple swap at a time.
